Job summary

Smurfit Westrock Roanoke Rapids Mill is seeking a Project Engineer to lead capital and maintenance projects from concept to completion. You will coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, contractors, and vendors to deliver safe, high‑quality results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical, civil, electrical, or industrial engineering background and a proven ability to manage multiple projects, with focus on safety, cost, and schedule.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering.
5+ years of experience with engineering capital projects preferred.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work in a paper mill environment and adapt to priorities.
Experience coordinating with operations, maintenance, and vendors.

Responsibilities

Manage capital and maintenance projects from planning through execution.
Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, contractors, and vendors.
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Develop drawings, specifications, and execution plans.
Provide technical guidance and documentation.
