• Oversee heavy machinery installation, replacement, and optimization of conveyors, milling/grinding systems, loading platforms, and dust collection.
• Coordinate structural foundations and civil aspects for equipment and plant infrastructure.
• Supervise on-site contractors and drive commissioning and troubleshooting on the shop floor.

Job Title: Manufacturing Project Engineer – Capital Projects ($500K)

Location: Sylacauga, AL (100% Onsite, Mon–Fri)

About the Role

Are you a hands‑on engineer who loves taking plant projects from start to finish? We are seeking a Manufacturing Project Engineer to lead full-lifecycle capital equipment and plant improvement projects (typically in the $500K range) at our continuous processing facility in Sylacauga, AL.

This is not a high-level project management or desk-only role. We need an end-to‑end, "A-to-Z" owner who does the actual engineering design, uses AutoCAD to draw facility layouts, manages equipment procurement, supervises local contractors, and leads final field commissioning.

What You’ll Do (A-to-Z Scope)

• Design & Layout (In-House): Create and refine plant equipment layouts and mechanical drawings using AutoCAD rather than outsourcing to external engineering firms.
• CapEx Project Ownership: Lead plant improvement projects from initial scoping, cost estimating, and budgeting through installation and start-up.
• Heavy Machinery & Infrastructure: Oversee the installation, replacement, and optimization of heavy industrial equipment (conveyors, milling/grinding systems, loading platforms, and dust collection).
• Structural & Civil Coordination: Assist with layout engineering for equipment foundations, structural steel, and plant infrastructure.
• Contractor & Field Management: Supervise on‑site contractors and tradespeople during equipment installation to ensure projects meet safety, timeline, and quality goals.
• Commissioning & Troubleshooting: Drive physical commissioning on the shop floor, partnering directly with plant operations and maintenance teams.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or Chemical Engineering.
• Experience: 3+ years of hands‑on project engineering experience within a heavy industrial, continuous processing, or manufacturing plant environment.
• CAD Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD to generate and modify plant layout drawings independently.
• True A‑to‑Z Ownership: Proven history of taking small-to-midsize capital projects ($100K–$500K+) through design, budgeting, contractor management, and commissioning.
• Work Style: Self‑starter who thrives in a hands‑on plant floor environment collaborating with maintenance and operations.
