Job summary

Reading Crane & Engineering, part of Flatiron Crane, seeks a Mechanical Project Engineer to plan, coordinate, and execute engineering projects from concept to completion. You will contribute to design, project management, and client interactions to deliver high-quality solutions.

The role requires understanding of machine design, stress analysis, and data collection with metrology tools, along with coordinating with sales and subcontractors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or pursuing one.
  • Knowledge of Creo or other parametric modeling software and FEA software is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge and computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Candidate must be proactive, punctual, and reliable.
  • Ability to work in an office environment as well as occasional field work.

Responsibilities

  • Have a fundamental understanding of engineering concepts, machine design, and stress and strain analysis calculations.
  • Conform to all applicable design specifications and maintain detailed records.
  • Detailing and designing systems, layouts, and repair procedures.
  • Ability to collect data using micrometers, calipers, and measuring tape and data analysis.
  • Coordinate with sales team to propose work.
  • Coordinate and manage projects from start to finish.
  • Direct and supervise subcontractors and technicians to complete projects.
  • Planning and preparation of material orders and delivery.
  • Maintain deadlines and budgets to the demands of the customer.
  • Abide by safety policies of Simmers Crane Design & Services, the customer, and OSHA standards.
  • Prepare documentation such as invoicing and project closeout.
  • Act individually and in a group environment.
  • React in a timely manner to solve problems in stressful situations.

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering projects from concept through completion. Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Preferred knowledge of Creo or other parametric modeling software and FEA software (Finite Element Analysis).
  • Strong technical knowledge and computer literate; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Candidate must be pro-active, punctual, and reliable.
  • Critical thinking, decision making, and executing corrective actions are all requirements for the position.
  • Must have the ability to work in an office environment as well as occasional field work.
