Job summary

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer for an onsite role in Nashville, TN. You will develop conceptual designs, establish project plans, and lead mechanical systems from layout to validation, coordinating resources across teams and customers.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 6+ years of related experience and CAD expertise (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD). Domestic and international travel up to 20% is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Professional Engineer license or similar certifications preferred.
  • 6+ years of related experience in mechanical design or automation.
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD).
  • Experience with automation products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual designs and system level architecture.
  • Establish project plans and coordinate resources and design directions.
  • Complete layout of machines through detail of components.
  • Lead adaptations in methods for nonroutine aspects of assignments.
  • Assist with managing projects regarding cost, quality, timing and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage several ongoing projects concurrently and communicate progress.
  • Mentor and contribute to the Mechanical Engineering department growth.
  • Serve as a technical expert and mentor other mechanical engineers.

Location Type:

The position is onsite in Nashville, TN.

Travel Requirements:

Up to 20%. Travel may include domestic and/or international customers, supplier, and JR Automation locations.

How You’ll Make an Impact:
  • Develop conceptual designs and create system level architecture.
  • Establish project plans including coordination of technical resources and design directions.
  • Complete layout of machine through detail of all components.
  • Collaboratively uses judgement to determine adaptations in methods for nonroutine aspects of assignments.
  • Assist with the successful management of assigned projects as they relate to cost, quality, timing and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage several on-going projects concurrently.
  • Assist in developing the Mechanical Engineering department through leadership, experience, encouragement and mentorship.
  • Possesses above average oral and written communication skills.
  • Initiate and maintain extensive contact with key engineers, external departments, and customers.
  • Lead teams and influence project direction and progress.
  • Serve as a technical expert in the department and may mentor/train other mechanical engineers.

What You’ll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience, calculated as two (2) years of relevant work experience for each year of academic study
  • Professional Engineer OR other technical Certifications preferred
  • 6+ years of related experience
  • Experienced with CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD)
  • Knowledgeable of automation products, services, and the industry
  • Capable of creating machine designs with complex assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Able to quickly recognize and fix common engineering problems based on experience, including review and critique of others' work
  • Current or prior JR Automation experience, or experience in the automation industry is strongly preferred
  • Preferred industry experience: Process and/or Medical
