Job summary

K2M Design in Columbus, OH is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to our culture and client-centered design projects. The hybrid role leverages your expertise in mechanical and plumbing systems for large, complex projects, with travel as needed and a focus on dependable, high-quality drawings.

The engineer will apply experience to diverse assignments, perform calculations, prepare data sheets, and support field activities, ensuring technical excellence and reliable project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science from an ABET accredited college or university.
• 5+ years experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
• Revit proficiency, required.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems for commercial and public buildings (HVAC, plumbing, exhaust, specialty systems).
• Develop and review drawings with high quality and accuracy.
• Perform engineering calculations and prepare data sheets and specifications.
• Assist in field work and travel as needed (approx. 15% of time).
• Support construction administration and respond to RFIs.

Position Summary

An Engineer who uses experience to perform a variety of assignments requiring skills in all aspects of engineering design for large and complex projects.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Knowledgeable in the design of mechanical systems including heating, ventilation, cooling, exhaust, and specialty systems for commercial and public buildings
• Knowledgeable in the design of plumbing systems including gas, potable water, sanitary, sewer, fire suppression, and specialty systems for commercial and public buildings.
• Undertakes a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard engineering techniques for small projects or selected segments of a larger project.
• Relies on experience and judgement for design, development, implementation, and analysis of engineering designs and systems.
• Produces high quality, accurate, and consistent drawings.
• Collects and prepares data/information and performs engineering calculations. Develops technical specifications and data sheets.
• Performs construction administration, drawing review, and response to RFI’s.
• Assists in field work. Available to travel, as needed, dependent upon specific project assignments. 15% of time reserved for travel.
