Job summary

Godfrey & Wing seeks a hands-on Mechanical Project Engineer with experience in custom equipment design and full project lifecycle management. You will lead CAD design, provide technical leadership, and coordinate with internal teams while engaging directly with customers.

Responsibilities include designing with CAD tools, managing scope and schedule, developing BOMs and drawings, and supporting testing and commissioning. Travel up to 20% including international trips may be required.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of engineering experience in custom equipment design.

• 3D CAD (Solidworks, Inventor, or equivalent) experience.

Job description

We are seeking a hands-on MechanicalProject Engineer with experience in custom equipment design and full project lifecycle management. This individual will play a key role in engineering, managing, and delivering mechanical systems tailored to customer needs. From concept through commissioning, this role is responsible for CAD design, technical leadership, coordination with internal teams, and direct customer engagement.

Responsibilities:

• Design custom mechanical equipment using CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent)
• Execute engineering tasks from concept through fabrication and assembly support
• Assist in managing project scope, schedule, and deliverables
• Support customer communication including requirements gathering and status updates
• Collaborate with fabrication, controls, and field service teams
• Support equipment testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities
• Develop and maintain BOMs, drawings, and technical documentation
• Assist in developing sequence of operations for controls integration

Project & Leadership Expectations:

• Manages smaller projects or supports larger projects
• Demonstrates ownership of assigned tasks and deliverables
• Limited mentoring of junior staff or technicians
• Builds customer interaction and communication skills

Specific Skills/requirements:

• Calculations capabilities to solve complex systems (structural loading, drive size, conveyance systems, etc)
• Sizing pumps, gear motors, cylinders, and thermal systems
• Experience with standard fabrication methods
• Ability to write sequence of operations for controls engineering and automation
• Hydraulic and Pneumatic experience

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in Engineering related to the design and manufacture of custom equipment.
• Ability to travel 10-20%, including international travel.
• 3D CAD (Solidworks, Inventor, or equivalent) experience
