Job summary

Michaud Cooley Erickson (MCE) seeks a mechanical engineer/Project Designer with a growth mindset to advance as an industry leader. You will interact with clients, design projects independently with peer support, and contribute to mission-critical building systems.

The role values autonomy, risk-taking, and teamwork, with hybrid work options and a strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and ongoing learning across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited university or college.
  • At least 4 years of related building systems design experience.
  • Proficient in Revit.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience.
  • Ability to pass company and client background checks.
  • Licenced Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.
  • CFD and pipeflow modeling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine code review and analysis.
  • Performs routine design calculations and sizes standard equipment.
  • Follows design standards set by the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record.
  • Researches and presents equipment and design options to the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record.
  • Follows company master design standards.
  • Ensures QA/QC process is followed and documented.
  • Develops knowledge of all system types within their discipline.
  • Develops knowledge of current design trends and best practices.
  • Directs less experienced staff in routine design tasks and calculations.
  • Trains EITs and designers in routine calculations and layouts.
  • Creates project-specific details, schematics, and sketches.
  • Assembles specifications, including project-specific information.

Job Summary

We are seeking a mechanical engineer with a growth mindset and superior interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate is eager to grow in their career to become an industry leader. This role requires a team player with a passion for innovation, who is also a tireless learner, and capable of designing projects independently with the support of their peers. The ideal candidate will have a key role in interacting and building relationships with clients.

Responsibilities
  • Performs routine code review and analysis.
  • Performs routine design calculations and sizes standard equipment.
  • Follows design standards set by the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record.
  • Researches and presents equipment and design options to the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record.
  • Follows company master design standards.
  • Ensures that the QA/QC process is followed and documented.
  • Develops a working knowledge of all system types within their discipline.
  • Develops knowledge of current design trends and best practices.
  • Directs less experienced technical staff in how to perform routine design tasks and routine calculations.
  • Trains EIT’s and designers how to perform routine calculations and system layouts.
  • Creates project specific details, schematics, and sketches.
  • Assembles specifications, including project specific information.
Requirements
You Will Need to Have:
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited university or college
  • At least 4 years of related building systems design experience
  • Proficient in Revit
  • Microsoft Office Suite of products experience
  • Ability to pass company and client background checks
We Prefer That You Have
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification or ability to obtain
  • CFD and pipeflow modeling experience

Salary Range:

$74,800 - $105,500 annually.

Individual employee compensation is determined with a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, knowledge, skills, geography, and performance. Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
