Job summary

SSOE is hiring a Mechanical/Process Piping Designer in Lima, Ohio to support process equipment systems integration, industrial utilities, and piping projects. You will produce drawings in 2D/3D and coordinate with multiple disciplines to implement designs in collaborative environments.

The role requires 8+ years experience, proficiency with AutoCAD 2D/3D and Plant 3D, and field interface with clients and contractors; travel is expected. Competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering or architectural fields preferred.
• Minimum eight years experience with SSOE as a Designer or ten years related designer experience with prior employers.
• Experience with food and/or beverage processing, piping design, packaging, and material handling projects.
• Field experience with client and contractor interface required.
• Experience with AutoCAD 2D/3D and AutoCAD Plant 3D required.
• Familiarity with Revit, Inventor, Solidworks, Navisworks, and Cintoo is a plus.
• Experience with equipment layouts and system integrations.
• Valid driver’s license required; travel is required and may be waived for international assignments.

Responsibilities

• Apply standard design techniques and make minor adaptations to design concepts.
• Receive instructions on assignment objectives and assist in deriving solutions for unusual problems.
• Coordinate and direct work efforts of other designers on the same project and check portions of completed drawings.
• Prepare addendums, bulletins, and initiate project change orders for the project manager.
• Attend construction meetings, produce site observation reports and final punch lists, and troubleshoot design problems in the field.
• Research design options and document findings for project engineers/architects; check design calculations and drawings.
• Process and review shop drawings for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
• Interface with external customers to confirm equipment layout and custom pieces fit production requirements.
• May serve as job captain on single-discipline projects, write portions of specifications, and assist with design and construction cost estimates.
