Job summary

NANA Worley seeks a mechanical/piping engineering leader for Anchorage, Alaska. The role involves researching and developing designs, leading scope and schedule discussions, and ensuring all engineering documents are followed through fabrication and installation.

Candidates should have an Engineering degree, an Alaska PE license, and at least five years in oil and gas, including North Slope experience. Familiarity with AutoPIPE is preferred and a referral program is available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Alaska PE license required.
  • Minimum five years of oil and gas engineering experience.
  • Minimum two years of off-pad pipeline experience.
  • North Slope – Alaska project experience is required.
  • AutoPIPE or similar piping stress software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Researches data from client proposals to determine feasibility.
  • Develops project scope, estimates, and schedules with clients.
  • Reviews and approves project drawings, standards and specs.
  • Develops equipment and material selection and construction specs.
  • Uses engineering software to perform tasks.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Supports fabrication and installation to follow engineering documents.
  • Coordinates activities with other disciplines in fabrication and installation.
  • Provides technical direction to engineers, designers and drafters.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, and problem solving.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description

This position provides mechanical and piping engineering project leadership and/or discipline support for various projects by researching, specifying, developing, designing, engineering, or testing components, equipment and/or systems.

This is a full time, non-rotational position located at NANA Worley headquarters in Anchorage, AK. Remote work option may be considered on a case by case basis

Responsibilities
  • Researches and analyzes data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.

  • Works with clients to develop a project’s scope of work, estimates, and/or schedules.

  • Reviews and approves project drawings, standards and specifications.

  • Develops major equipment and material selection, and construction specifications.

  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.

  • Ensures that all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes, regulations and laws.

  • Provides support during fabrication and installation phases to ensure engineering documents are followed.

  • Coordinates activities with other project disciplines involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation or repair of various materials, products or systems.

  • Provides technical direction, support and information to other engineers, designers and drafters.

  • Consistently demonstrates professional skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, communications, operational efficiencies, handling of a client’s changing needs, decision making, and analyzing and solving problems.

  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited institution required.

  • Must have Alaska PE license.

  • Minimum five (5) years engineering experience in the oil and gas industry required.

  • Minimum two (2) years off-pad pipeline engineering experience.

  • Engineering experience for projects on the North Slope - Alaska required.

  • Proficiency in Bentley AutoPIPE or other piping stress analysis software preferred.

Other Experience

Responsible engineering experience including arctic pipeline, process piping, and/or HVAC system work. Prior experience should have included familiarity with ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 piping codes and material specifications, and with ASHRAE standards.

Must be able to work independently, and with project team.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management and client.

Mathematical Skills

Comprehend and apply principles of calculus, modern algebra and statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations and proofs and theorems. Ability to apply mathematical operations to work projects.

Reasoning Ability

Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with non-verbal symbols (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in the most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Computer Skills

Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, word processing software; Excel spreadsheet software; Outlook e-mail software; and any other discipline-specific design or analysis software, as required.
