Job summary

NANA Worley is seeking a developing designer in Anchorage to prepare drawings, 3D models, and design documentation under guidance. You will apply established design practices using AutoCAD and related tools while supporting senior designers and engineers.

The role emphasizes routine assignments, accuracy, and teamwork in a non-rotational, on-site environment at the NANA Worley headquarters. Minimum experience: 3 years in mechanical/piping drafting in oil & gas.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology from an accredited institution or equivalent years of design experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in mechanical/piping drafting and design in the oil & gas industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret codes, procedures, standards, and specs to produce compliant designs.
  • Develop material takeoffs and estimates accurately.
  • Operate AutoCAD systems and CAD software for design tasks.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, client communication, and problem solving in project work.
  • Inspect equipment against design specs and assess manufacturability.
  • Keep up with engineering publications to track technical developments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by department.

This position is a full time, non-rotational position located at NANA Worley headquarters in Anchorage, Alaska

Responsibilities
  • Interprets and applies codes, procedures, standards and specifications to accurately and efficiently produce designs which conform to applicable codes and specifications.

  • Accurately develops material takeoffs and estimates.

  • Proficiently operates various AutoCAD systems. Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform design tasks.

  • Consistently demonstrates example skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, handling a client’s changing needs, communications, operational efficiencies, decision making, and analyzing and solving problems.

  • Inspects equipment for conformance with design specifications. Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.

  • Studies engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technical changes and developments in industry.

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

Qualifications

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Math Ability:

Math skills sufficient to: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent. Draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and current versions of AutoCAD design software.
