Job summary

NANA Worley in Anchorage, AK seeks a mechanical and piping engineering lead to research, design, and test components and systems for oil and gas projects. This full-time, non-rotational role is based at the NANA Worley headquarters with potential for remote work on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities include evaluating data, developing scope of work, approving drawings, coordinating with disciplines, and ensuring compliance with ASME piping codes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Alaska PE license.
  • Minimum five (5) years engineering experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Minimum two (2) years off-pad pipeline engineering experience.
  • Engineering experience for projects on the North Slope – Alaska required.
  • Proficiency in Bentley AutoPIPE or other piping stress analysis software preferred.

Job Description
This position provides mechanical and piping engineering project leadership and/or discipline support for various projects by researching, specifying, developing, designing, engineering, or testing components, equipment and/or systems.

*This is a full time, non-rotational position located at NANA Worley headquarters in Anchorage, AK. Remote work option may be considered on a case by case basis*

Responsibilities
  • Researches and analyzes data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Works with clients to develop a project’s scope of work, estimates, and/or schedules.
  • Reviews and approves project drawings, standards and specifications.
  • Develops major equipment and material selection, and construction specifications.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Ensures that all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes, regulations and laws.
  • Provides support during fabrication and installation phases to ensure engineeringdocuments are followed.
  • Coordinates activities with other project disciplines involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation or repair of various materials, products or systems.
  • Provides technical direction, support and information to other engineers, designers and drafters.
  • Consistently demonstrates professional skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, communications, operational efficiencies, handling of a client’s changing needs, decision making, and analyzing and solving problems.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Other Experience:

Responsible engineering experience including arctic pipeline, process piping, and/or HVAC system work. Prior experience should have included familiarity with ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 piping codes and material specifications, and with ASHRAE standards.

Must be able to work independently, and with project team.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals.Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management and client.

Mathematical Skills:

Comprehend and apply principles of calculus, modern algebra and statistical theory.Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations and proofs and theorems.Ability to apply mathematical operations to work projects.

Reasoning Ability:

Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.Ability to deal with non-verbal symbols (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in the most difficult phases.Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, word processing software; Excel spreadsheet software; Outlook e-mail software; and any other discipline-specific design or analysis software, as required.
