Job summary

Fidelity Manufacturing is seeking a Packaging Mechanical Trainer to develop, deliver, and sustain training programs for mechanical assembly, installation, and packaging of generator enclosures and related systems. You will coach employees, align training with ISO/OSHA standards, and collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Safety teams to drive safety, quality, and productivity.

Position Summary

The Packaging Mechanical Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and sustaining technical training programs for employees involved in the mechanical assembly, installation, and packaging of generator enclosures, structural components, and associated mechanical systems. This role serves as a subject matter expert and coach, ensuring employees develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and safety awareness necessary to perform work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with established quality standards.

The trainer provides classroom, hands-on, and on-the-job instruction; evaluates employee competency; and delivers ongoing coaching to support workforce development and operational excellence. Working closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Safety teams, the trainer ensures training programs align with standardized work instructions, customer requirements, production objectives, OSHA regulations, and ISO quality standards.

This position plays a critical role in driving safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement by promoting best practices, reducing defects and rework, supporting employee qualification efforts, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning throughout the organization.

Essential Functions
  • Deliver classroom, hands-on, and on the lob training for employees involved in the mechanical assembly, installation, and packaging of generator enclosures, structural components, and related mechanical systems.
  • Train and qualify new hires, transferred employees, and incumbent employees on standardized work instructions, assembly procedures, quality requirements, and safety expectations
  • Demonstrate proper mechanical assembly techniques, tool usage, equipment operation, material handling practices, and safe work methods in accordance with company standards
  • Assess employee knowledge, skill proficiency, and job readiness through observations, demonstrations, evaluations, and competency assessments
  • Monitor employee performance during training and production activities, providing timely coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback to reinforce desired behaviors and performance standards
  • Identify individual and team skill gaps and collaborate with production leadership to develop targeted training gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Maintain accurate training documentation, qualification records, skill matrices, and competency assessments in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure employees consistently follow standardized work instructions, engineering specifications, quality standards, and packaging procedures.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities related to mechanical assembly, packaging, safety, and quality concerns and nonconformances.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, Safety, and Human Resources teams to support workforce development initiatives and operational goals
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to improve training effectiveness, standard work, manufacturing processes, quality performance, and employee engagement
  • Review, develop, revise and maintain training tmaterials, job aids, visual standards, and employee qualification criteria as needed
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for mechanical packaging processes and provide technical guidance to employees, supervisors, and cross-functional teams
  • Promote a culture of safety by ensuring compliance to OSHA regulations, company policies, PPE requirements and safe work practices
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment consistent with 5S and continuous improvement principles
  • Communicate technical information, job expectations, and procedural changes clearly and effectively to employees at all organizational levels
  • Meet established training, safety, quality, productivity, and workforce development objectives
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Training Manager
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience delivering training, coaching, mentoring, or workforce development programs in a manufacturing, industrial, or technical environment
  • Previous experience in mechanical assembly, packaging, manufacturing, maintenance, or another role requiring strong mechanical apptitude
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical assembly processes, packing operations, tools, equipment, and safe work practices
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present information to employees with varying experience levels.
  • Ability to assess employee performance, identify skill gaps, and provide constructive coaching and feedback
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and learning management training priorities and maintain accurate training records
  • Ability to work independently while collaboroating effectively with operations, quality, engineering, and leadership teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree, technical certification, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in a mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, or engineering-related field
  • Experience in power generation, heavy manufacturing, rotating equipment, turbine, generator, or industrial equipment assembly environments
  • Prior experience serving as a trainer, lead technician, team lead, mentor, or subject matter expert
  • Experience creating training programs and competency-based learning paths
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or maneuver mechanical parts, hardware, tools, and assemblies weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on concrete or industrial surfaces.
  • Ability to reach, bend, crouch, kneel, stoop, climb, and maintain balance as tasks require.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions and fine-motor tasks such as fastening, aligning components, and tool handling.
  • Ability to work near mechanical components, machinery, and powered tools while maintaining situational awareness.
  • Sufficient visual acuity to read mechanical drawings, labels, measurements, and work instructions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in moderate-to-high noise environments.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an active mechanical assembly and manufacturing environment, specifically within the Packaging Mechanical area where enclosures, structural components, mechanical parts, and system hardware are installed and assembled. The role involves regular exposure to loud noise, vibration, temperature fluctuations, dust, metal shavings, airborne particles, fumes, lubricants, and industrial byproducts, all within OSHA-permissible exposure limits. Duties require working around mechanical systems, generators, enclosures, hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and production equipment. Work may involve accessing tight compartments, elevated platforms, uneven surfaces, and areas where mechanical systems are being assembled or moved. Designated PPE — including safety eyewear, gloves, hearing protection, steel-toe footwear, and other required protective equipment — must be worn at all times. All work must follow OSHA safety guidelines, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety policies.
