Job description

Own the Night Shift. Keep the Line Moving.Pro Services Workforce Solutions has partnered with a cellulose insulation manufacturer in Jenison, MI to hire a direct-hire Mechanical Maintenance Technician for the overnight team. This plant runs a single flow line with multiple variations—when one section stops, the whole process pauses. Your work keeps everything humming.A Night in This Role10:00 PM: You arrive to a clean, well-stocked maintenance shop—tools are provided. You scan the CMMS, check the to-do list, and touch base with production. The line is dusty, not greasy, and you're ready for whatever comes.Through the night: A conveyor idler squeals. You swap a bearing and tension a chain. A packaging unit shows an over-amp alert—using the HMI, you confirm status, then verify power flow, contacts, relays, and motor starters under LOTO. Later, a hydraulic hose on a packaging system (up to 1,300 PSI) seeps; you make a replacement hose, chase valve lights to the fault, pull a cylinder, and bleed the system during a planned stop. Between calls, you grease, walk the lines, and chip away at CMMS work orders. If a job is bigger than one person, you call for backup—fast, clear communication keeps production in the loop.6:00 AM: The line is ready for handoff. You wrap up notes for the day crew and head out—most nights, you can brush the dust off and go straight home. What You’ll Work OnMechanical repair and upkeep on rollers, chains, bearings, shafts and seals, and gearboxes.Maintenance of conveyors, shredders, packaging lines, and robot cells.MIG welding for plant improvements and repairs (guards, doors, bracing, brackets; non-structural).Hydraulics on packaging equipment: hose and O-ring replacements, leak fixes, making hoses, tracing issues via valve lights, cylinder pulls, and system bleeding during shutdowns (systems up to 1,300 PSI).Electrical triage: distinguish mechanical vs. electrical motor issues; verify contacts and power flow; replace contactors, relays, and motor starters under LOTO; use the HMI as a troubleshooting tool (e.g., clearing and monitoring over-amp alerts).Proactive rounds between calls: line walks, lubrication, CMMS work orders, and tight coordination with production.Who Thrives HereYou are thorough, self-directed, and hands-on. You finish the list, communicate clearly, and help operators understand their equipment. You’re a team player who embodies Safety, Integrity, Pride, and Teamwork, and you’re comfortable leading on an off shift with a newer production crew.Qualifications3+ years of industrial maintenance experience with limited oversight.Strong mechanical fundamentals: conveyors, bearings, shafts and seals, and gearboxes.MIG welding experience.Basic electrical troubleshooting: power flow, contacts, relays, motors; safe LOTO.Basic hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge.Clear, fast communication with production and supervisors.Able to work Sunday–Thursday, 3rd shift (10:00 PM–6:00 AM typical) with 5–10 hours of weekly overtime and occasional weekends.Willing to train on 1st shift for 2–8 weeks before moving to nights.Nice to HaveIntermediate/advanced mechanical skills (rebuilds, reading diagrams/schematics).Stick/Arc or intermediate welding.Electrical work with control voltage, single-phase, and 480V three-phase; meter use; cabinet troubleshooting; wiring; sensors.HMI and robot exposure.Experience with positive displacement, air diaphragm, or centrifugal pumps. Background in packaging or pulp/paper.Training & OnboardingTrain on 1st shift for 2–8 weeks, led by the most senior day-shift tech.Week one focuses on safety, aerial lift, forklift, and LOTO.Shadow operators to learn equipment; start with PMs; follow a scheduled progression sheet with supervisor sign-offs so expectations are always clear.Compensation & Schedule$34–$36/hr based on experience + $2/hr 3rd-shift premium.Sunday–Thursday, typically 10:00 PM–6:00 AM.Plan for 5–10 hours of overtime weekly and occasional weekends.Direct-hire role in Jenison, MI.Work Environment & PhysicalsDusty (not greasy) environment; PPE provided.
