Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Rotating shift with safety as a priority.
• Dismantle, repair (including welding), replace, install, maintain and assemble hydraulic and mechanical equipment.
• Adjust equipment for proper gears, bearings and shafts and operate basic machine tools.
• Perform mechanical repairs on cranes and mobile equipment as needed.
• Lay out and repair pipelines, fittings, fixtures, and pressure systems.
• Repair hydraulic leaks and replace components such as cylinders and valves.
• Utilize computer systems for planning, execution, and reporting.

Job description

Danieli is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to work in Apple Grove, West Virginia. The role involves inspecting, repairing, making welding repairs as necessary, replacing, installing, adjusting, and maintaining all mechanical equipment, including hydraulic equipment, in a producing unit assembly or assigned areas. The Technician reports hierarchically to the Workshop Shift Leader.

Responsibilities

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of tasks to ensure machinery and equipment are properly assembled, setup, and ready for operation. Some of the main tasks include:

• Rotating shift
• Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards
• Dismantle, clean, repair (including welding repairs when necessary), replace, install, maintain, assemble hydraulic equipment, and lubricate mechanical equipment
• Adjust equipment for proper operating gears, bearings, and shafts involving the application of press, sliding, and running fits, and operate simple machine tools such as drill press, pipe-threading machine, power saw, etc.
• Perform all mechanical repairs as required on cranes and mobile equipment
• Lay out, install, maintain, and repair all types of pipelines, fittings, fixtures, and pressure systems as required
• Repair leaks in hydraulic systems. Remove and install complete operating components such as cylinders, oil motors, four‑way valves, check valves, etc., and make necessary repairs
• Change, set up, and adjust equipment as required by the operation conditions
• Utilize all required computer systems for planning, executing, and reporting
• Certification in forklift, various overhead cranes, man‑lifts (scissor lifts) and other mobile equipment as required in maintenance activities (preferred)
• Utilize mechanical and electronic diagnostic equipment, computer equipment, and/or a variety of precision instruments as necessary
• Perform other duties and work assignments as required and directed

Technical Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent technical training
• At least (3+) years’ experience in a steelmaking plant with arc furnace, casting, or rolling maintenance experience
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment with the ability to read and understand hydraulic and mechanical drawings as well as P&ID’s
• Skilled in the use of tools, machines and testing instruments used in the repair and overhaul of steelmaking plant equipment
