Job Description

Position Purpose: The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and reliability of the plant’s rotating and mechanical equipment, processes, and hardware. During start-up and commissioning, they will apply their experience to ensure the plant meets or exceeds start-up timelines. Once operational, they will perform daily preventative maintenance, make adjustments, and repair equipment in cooperation with Operations and Engineering to optimize uptime and reliability.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

• Work in accordance with all applicable standards and safety codes.
• Provide mechanical expertise for repair, maintenance, and reliability activities.
• Resolve mechanical and rotating equipment issues and implement corrective actions.
• Assist in setting maintenance, reliability, and capital objectives and develop initiatives.
• Participate in safety, shutdown planning, and maintenance activities.
• Ensure good communication across sites and with stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including work at other plants or on safety committees.

Work Environment:

• Work in extreme temperatures, dust, airborne particles, and around materials like biomass, diesel, and oils.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Experience with laser alignment, vibration analysis, lubrication analysis, thermography, boilers, turbines, and power generation, especially with biomass, is preferred.
• 5-10 years practical experience in industrial or power generation fields.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with computers and maintenance management software.
• Ability to read blueprints and manuals, troubleshoot equipment.

Certifications:

• Red Seal Millwright certification preferred, with additional trades certifications advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to wear respirators, safety gear, and work in confined spaces, at heights, and with heavy objects.
