Job Summary

Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor – plan and supervise maintenance personnel in improvements, repairs, and preventive maintenance on all foundry equipment, machining equipment, and facility. Direct electricians, maintenance technicians, and laborers to achieve 100% uptime. Support manufacturing to improve safety, quality, maximize productivity, and contribute to overall profitability.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plan and supervise all repair activities associated with equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Direct the workforce in their work assignments.
  • Provide guidance in troubleshooting plant equipment.
  • Lead and manage the maintenance team in all preventative maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures.
  • Identify potential mechanical risks in the manufacturing process and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Develop, schedule, and complete necessary capital projects.
  • Work with contractors and vendors to provide oversight.
  • Promote good working relationships among all foundry employees including union, management, and quality assurance personnel.
  • Promote and develop SPX leadership standards.
  • Responsible for training and developing maintenance technicians.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth.
  • Encourage collaboration and innovation while maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Evaluate performance and provide feedback to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Promote and direct good safety and housekeeping practices.
  • Use ERP system and other technology to prepare reports for planning, performance monitoring, issue identification, and improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records including production reports, inventory data, safety logs, employee performance records, time and attendance records.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement throughout the facility to enhance efficiency, equipment performance, quality, reduce cost, and optimize operations.
  • Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization.
Qualifications
Required Experience
  • 5+ years combined industrial, mechanical, and electrical experience.
  • 2+ years of leadership/supervisor experience.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Previous foundry experience with machine tool concepts.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Self‑motivated with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems; experience with JD Edwards is a plus.
  • Ability to accept change and adapt to schedule changes due to fluctuations in customer demands.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple departments to achieve best customer and company results.
Education & Certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2‑year technical degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Certification in Advanced Hydraulics, Industrial Electricity, Motor Control, and Programmable Logic Controllers or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum travel may be required; less than 5%.
  • Workplace is onsite in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent movement around manufacturing facility.
