Job summary

Chemtrade in Richmond, CA is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance and reliability for our sulfuric acid and regeneration site. You will set the pace for daily execution, supervise internal trades and contractors, and ensure safe, compliant performance aligned with Responsible Care.

You'll own the daily schedule, dispatch work via CMMS, troubleshoot equipment disruptions, manage spares, lead outage planning and budgeting, and develop technicians through coaching and training.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in plant maintenance within chemical, refinery, power, or pulp & paper environments.
• 3+ years directing hourly maintenance crews.
• Demonstrated experience implementing industrial safety programs.
• Proficiency with a CMMS; strong MS Word and Excel skills; SAP exposure advantageous.
• Working knowledge of pumps, motors, piping, valves, turbines, and heat exchangers.

Responsibilities

• Own the daily schedule: plan work, allocate resources.
• Dispatch tasks and track progress using the CMMS/work order system.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment disruptions; drive root-cause solutions.
• Manage spares and materials for mechanical, instrumentation, welding, rotating equipment, piping-valve-fittings, filters, bearings, and hoses.
• Lead outage preparation, budgeting, performance metrics, and post-event reviews.
• Develop people: mentoring and training pathways for technicians.
• Stay current on site policies, procedures, permits, and applicable regulations.

The Opportunity
Lead maintenance and reliability for Chemtrade’s sulfuric acid and regeneration site in Richmond, CA. You’ll set the pace for daily execution, supervise internal crafts and contractors for maintenance and capital projects, and ensure our performance meets rigorous Responsible Care expectations.
How You’ll Make an Impact

• Own the daily schedule: plan work, integrate urgent needs, and allocate resources effectively.
• Use the CMMS/work order system to dispatch tasks, track progress, and drive PM completion.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment disruptions; facilitate team problem-solving to eliminate root causes.
• Manage spares and materials for mechanical, instrumentation, welding, rotating equipment, pipe-valve-fittings, filters, bearings, and hoses.
• Model safety leadership: uphold procedures, create and communicate JSAs, and respond to EHS incidents with timely reporting, investigation, and action item closure.
• Lead outage preparation, budgeting, performance metrics, and post-event reviews.
• Develop people: provide guidance, mentorship, and training pathways to ensure technicians have the right competencies.
• Stay current on site policies, procedures, permits, and applicable regulations.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• High school diploma.
• 5+ years in plant maintenance within chemical, refinery, power, or pulp & paper environments.
• 3+ years directing hourly maintenance crews.
• Demonstrated experience implementing industrial safety programs.
• Proficiency with a CMMS plus solid Microsoft Word and Excel skills; SAP exposure (purchasing and PM modules) is advantageous.
• Working knowledge of pumps, motors, piping, valves, turbines, and heat exchangers.

Medical Requirement
All employees must complete annual medical assessments—including a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT)—and must be able to wear a respirator as a condition of employment.
