Job summary

Georgia-Pacific's Dudley, NC Building Products facility seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Planner to plan, schedule, and coordinate mechanical maintenance to maximize uptime. This role involves collaboration with maintenance technicians, operations, and engineering to develop proactive maintenance plans for all mechanical systems within the mill.

You will use CMMS to manage work orders, review completions, and align maintenance with production.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in industrial maintenance planning or 4+ years as a millwright/electrician, preferably in wood products or heavy industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial maintenance practices.
• Proficient in CMMS platforms (SAP, Maximo, MP2, eMaint).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all mechanical equipment, including conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Use the CMMS to create, assign, and track work orders and equipment histories.
• Review completed work orders for accuracy, follow-up needs, and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams to prioritize maintenance activities in alignment with production schedules.
• Ensure all required parts, tools, and materials are available before scheduled maintenance work begins.
• Work with vendors and procurement to order critical spares and ensure timely delivery of parts.
• Support root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode analysis for chronic equipment issues.
• Develop and maintain maintenance SOPs and job plans.
• Monitor equipment performance data and assist in reliability improvement opportunities.
• Assist with shutdown planning and execution, including scope definition, resource allocation, and schedule development.
