Job summary

Sterling Steel Company is seeking a Maintenance Planner to support safe, high-quality production at our Sterling, IL facility. You will develop detailed maintenance plans, prepare resources, and coordinate with operations, contractors, and vendors to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

The role requires strong planning, field assessment, and adherence to safety standards while contributing to continuous improvement within the Mechanical Department.

Qualifications

• 5+ years working as a Mechanic or similar maintenance role.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.
• Proficient in MS Office and maintenance software.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and LOTO/permits requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed maintenance plans with scope, labor, duration, tools, parts and safety needs.
• Conduct field walkdowns to verify scope and identify hazards.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance to minimize downtime and optimize resources.
• Develop long-range shutdown and turnaround maintenance plans.
• Track planned vs actual work and improve performance.
• Maintain CMMS records and equipment history.
