Boart Longyear Ltd. Glendale, AZ is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to service, repair and maintain our drill rigs and support equipment both in the workshop and at job sites on a 14-on/7-off hitch.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with hydraulic and electric systems, diesel engines, and high-pressure air systems while leading small teams as needed. We require practical mechanical experience (minimum 2 years), willingness to travel, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of mechanic experience with electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Some welding and fabrication experience is recommended.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus and MSHA/OSHA is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair and maintain Boart Longyear’s fleet of drill rigs and support equipment.
• Diagnose hydraulic and electrical issues; perform quick turnarounds to keep rigs operational.
• Travel to job sites for field maintenance and support field teams as needed.
• Follow safety protocols and collaborate with supervision, drillers and safety personnel.

In this position you will gain valuable knowledge of our fleet of drill rigs and support equipment. Time will be spent both traveling to jobsites on 14-day hitches, and in the workshop as required. Duties in the workshop will include training, equipment repairs and overhauls. Time spent in the field will be for routine maintenance on equipment and emergency breakdown repairs at various locations.Responsibilities* Applicants should be eager to learn, be self-motivated and have a desire to become a team leader.* This person will perform a variety of duties designed to service, repair and maintain Boart Longyear’s Fleet of drill rigs and support equipment.* Some of the repairs you will be performing include working on electric powered hydraulic systems, diesel powered hydraulic systems and machinery as well as high pressure pneumatic systems.* Must have the ability to diagnose hydraulic problems in equipment and be able to perform quick turnaround to get these rigs back in operation.* Electrical certification desired* Mechanic must be able to remain in a standing position for extended periods of time. You need to be able to lift your arms above shoulder level to install and remove broken or worn-out components.* You must have skills in the care and use of hand and power tools and be able to manipulate these tools in areas of limited space.* You must be able to work safely.* Be willing to travel for 14-day shifts (with 7 days off) and to work long days in adverse weather conditions.* Must be able to work well with others and have a positive attitude* Must be able to communicate with supervisor, driller and safety personnel* Must be able to work with little or no supervisionMinimum Qualifications* Minimum of 2 years of mechanic experience required, with established previous job tenure preferred* Experience with electrical and hydraulic schematics required* Some welding and fabrication experience recommended* Hydraulic experience, pumps manifolds cylinder repairs recommended* Basic diesel engine and fuel system diagnostic experience* Electrical experience or certification is a plus.* Knowledge of high-pressure air systems, i.e. screw compressors and boosters is a plus.* Knowledge of duplex and triplex mud pumps is a plus.* Able to work minimum 50 + hrs per week with scheduled overtime* Be able to lift 50 pounds frequently* Pass a drug screen and background check* Must have own tools* Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to attain a CDL* Must be able to be MSHA/OSHA certified### Compensation, Benefits and PerksTalented people are attracted to companies with long-term success and a supportive workplace culture that encourages work-life balance.
