Job summary

Domtar is seeking a Maintenance Engineer at our Plymouth, North Carolina Pulp Mill. The role reports to the Fiberline Maintenance Superintendent and focuses on upkeep of mechanical equipment for the fluff pulp machine.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 1–4 years of mill maintenance experience, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 1–4 years of industrial mill maintenance/engineering experience preferred.
• Experience with CMMS and adherence to safety standards (OSHA/EPA).
• Ability to work with all organization levels, including senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Preventive and predictive maintenance planning to maximize uptime.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues promptly.
• Install/upgrade equipment and modifications for reliability.
• Ensure safety/compliance with regulations and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records in CMMS and coordinate with teams.
• Collaborate with production, operations and management on schedules.
• Lead maintenance crew in supervisor's absence; oversee contractors.
• Develop planning skills for outage and project work.
