Job summary

We are recruiting a Multi-Skilled Engineer (Mechanical Bias) for a food manufacturing site in Ipswich. The role involves proactive and reactive maintenance to support site performance in a fast-paced production environment.

Working on Panama shift (rotating days and nights), you will ensure minimal downtime and uphold high engineering standards across the site.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent.
• Experience in food manufacturing or FMCG is desirable.
• Ability to work independently or in a team; day and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across production machinery
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime
• Support electrical fault finding at a basic level
• Work on food processing and packaging equipment
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and hygiene standards
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
• Accurately complete maintenance documentation and reports

The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to join a well-established food manufacturing site in Ipswich. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced production environment, supporting site performance and reliability through proactive and reactive maintenance.

Working on a Panama shift pattern (rotating days and nights), you will play a key role in ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining high engineering standards across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across production machinery
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently to minimise downtime
• Support electrical fault finding where required (basic level)
• Work on a variety of food processing and packaging equipment
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and hygiene standards
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
• Accurately complete all maintenance documentation and reports

About You

• Apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent)
• Strong mechanical engineering background with some electrical knowledge
• Experience working in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment (highly desirable)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexible approach to work and comfortable working day and night shifts
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset
