Job summary

Metallus is seeking a four-year Mechanical Maintainer Apprentice at our Stark County steel facilities in Gambrinus, Harrison or Faircrest. This entry-level role combines classroom study with on-the-job training, assisting journeymen in mechanical maintenance tasks and equipment diagnostics.

You will gain hands-on experience in preventive maintenance, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, crane operation, and safety practices within a lead industry setting serving aerospace, automotive and energy markets.

Qualifications

• Must be able to troubleshoot mechanical problems in the plant and take corrective action.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems.
• Ability to learn quickly, follow instructions and work safely with minimal direction.
• Must be able to work effectively with others and independently as required.

Responsibilities

• Receive and execute work assignments using instructions, drawings and sketches for diagnosis and repair of steel mill equipment.
• Utilize preventative/predictive maintenance to maintain equipment reliability and reduce breakdowns.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Operate overhead cranes and mobile equipment as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks and keep tools and work areas clean and organized.
