The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population.
The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes;and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.
The Mechanical Maintenance and Operations Technician III acts as a lead worker in the maintenance and operation of associated systems and equipment at the institution.
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of experience in the maintenance or repair of HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation, or electrical systems.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age.
May be required to take care of emergency repairs twenty-four hours a day.
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
