Descrizione del lavoro

Trillium is looking for a Mechanical Lighting Engineer in Libertyville!

This Direct-Hire opportunity is with a custom manufacturer. The qualified candidate will design and develop the mechanical side of LED lighting products, partnering with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to carry products from concept through production launch.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on design engineer who knows how things actually get built: sheet metal, extrusions, and molded parts, with an eye on thermal performance and manufacturability. If you like seeing your designs come off the line and then making them better, this is your kind of role.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for LED lighting products, including fixtures, housings, heat sinks, brackets, and mounting systems
  • Create and maintain 2D drawings, 3D models, bills of material, and engineering documentation in CAD
  • Run thermal, structural, and mechanical analysis to get the best performance, reliability, and manufacturability out of each design
  • Support new product development from the first concept all the way through production launch
  • Work alongside the electrical engineers to bring mechanical and electrical designs together
  • Evaluate and select materials, components, and manufacturing processes for LED products
  • Build prototypes and run testing to validate product performance and compliance
  • Dig into product failures, identify root causes, and put corrective actions in place
  • Work with Manufacturing to improve assembly processes, bring costs down, and raise production efficiency, including Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) work
  • Review and approve engineering change orders (ECOs) and maintain product revisions
  • Keep products compliant with UL, ETL, DLC, FCC, and other applicable standards and regulations
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors on tooling, components, and product improvements
  • Provide technical support to Sales, Customer Service, Production, and Quality as needed
Skills:
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor
  • Working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, extrusion design, injection molding, machining, and assembly processes
  • Understanding of thermal management principles for LED products
  • Product testing, validation, and root cause analysis
  • Thermal simulation and FEA software experience
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and engineering change management processes
  • Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methods
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with clear written and verbal communication
