Job summary

Experis in Maplewood, MN is seeking a Mechanical Laboratory Technician (Lab Technician I) to join the lab operations team supporting research, development, and quality control. The role is a 12-month contract with pay between $18 and $22 per hour.

You will prepare materials for testing, assist with experiments, perform chemical and mechanical tests, and thoroughly document test methods and results in both electronic and written formats. The position is 100% onsite.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing/production, or related setting.
• Strong organizational skills and a self-motivated, results-driven approach.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials for testing and perform ASTM-based tests.
• Assist with experiments by testing and evaluating new materials.
• Perform chemical and mechanical tests for R&D or quality control.
• Conduct hands-on testing with multiple lab tools while maintaining safety.

What's the Job?

• Prepare materials for testing and execute test methods in accordance with American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) requirements.
• Assist with laboratory experiments by testing and evaluating new materials and products based on research and development needs.
• Perform chemical and mechanical tests required for research, development, or quality control of processes and products.
• Conduct hands-on testing using multiple pieces of equipment while maintaining safety and productivity.
• Thoroughly document and report test methods and results in both electronic and written formats.

What's Needed?

• One year of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing/production, and/or pilot plant environment in a private, public, government, or military setting.
• Strong organizational skills with a self-motivated, results-driven approach to completing tasks accurately.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, to collaborate effectively and report results clearly.
• Ability to lift/carry at least 25 pounds and stand for 2 or more hours at a time, including frequent bending throughout the day.
