Lab Technician I

Location: St. Paul, MN (on-site)

Job Type: Contract

Length: 12-Months (with potential to extend)

Hours: 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day

Pay Rate: $21.00 - $23.40 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Worker performs chemical, physical, and/or mechanical analyses and tests required for research, development, or quality control of processes and products. Assists with compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and documenting results.
  • Preparing materials for testing and executing test methods in accordance with American Society for Testing Materials.
  • Assisting in laboratory experiments through testing and evaluation of new materials and products based on research.
  • Performing chemical and mechanical tests required for research, development, or quality control of processes and products.
  • Conducting hands‑on tests with multiple pieces of equipment.
  • Ensuring safety and productivity through preparation and maintenance of test equipment.
  • Thoroughly documenting and reporting test methods and results in both electronic and written format.
  • Able to complete work with little supervision and work well in a team environment.
Requirements
  • Highschool Diploma or higher.
  • One year of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing/production, and/or pilot plant in a private, public, government, or military environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, self‑motivated and results driven.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both written & oral.
  • Adaptability to team needs and working for many individuals in various groups.
  • Have proficient hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift/carry at least 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for 2 or more hours at a time as well as being able to bend many times through‑out the day.
  • Team worker with good physical mobility and dexterity, good observations skills and excellent communication. Must have the ability to adapt and adjust to team's needs.
Preferences
  • Proven ability to analyze, problem‑solve, and implement solutions.
  • Hands‑on, entry‑level experience with analytical and/or physical testing.
  • Ability to take instructions (verbal and written) and complete a task with little or no supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience with diagnostics, repair, and calibration of custom laboratory equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, communicate, and be organized.
