Description
The philosophy of our manufacturing group is to create a workforce that is very flexible. Thus, a candidate for this position must be able and willing to perform a variety of tasks in several different work functions and must demonstrate a mechanical aptitude. Under general supervision, may be involved with the assembly, disassembly, testing and processing, packaging, consolidation, storage, inspection, labeling and shipping of chemical materials and hazardous waste. Must possess sound interpersonal and communication skills as well as situational judgment and thought process to work effectively in a strong team-oriented environment. A focus on quality and attention-to-detail is a strong must.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent. General industry experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. (Equivalent education or military experience may be substituted for industry experience.)
- Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets and technical drawings.
- Ability to wear full face air-purifying respirator and other PPE.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform other physical tasks required by the job.
- Must possess a strong mechanical background.
Key Duties
- Work with engineers to set up mechanical laboratory tests, record data and enter data into lab computers.
- Work to assemble manifolds, valves, containers, and help set up instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Use Microsoft Excel in maintaining lab data.
Other Duties
- Acid wash Teflon and stainless steel valves.
- Acid wash of stainless steel vessels.
- Disassemble, inspect, re-assemble and helium leak check of stainless steel container vessels and valves.
- Wash, dry and inspect quartz and borosilicate glassware.
- Work in cleanroom and maintain integrity and housekeeping of cleanroom.
- Utilize a computer to input and retrieve data.
- Apply PVC coating to quartz and borosilicate glassware.
- Perform quality inspections.
- Package chemicals into quartz or stainless steel vessels.
- Operate a forklift and unload trucks.
- Assist with inorganic and organic chemical consolidation.
- Decontaminate certain stainless steel and quartz vessels and complete any required documentation.
- Consolidation of hazardous waste.
- Make computer entries to document all stages of customer returned items.
- Understand and have knowledge of inventory control and cycle counting.
- Ability to modify and repair both Pyrex and Quartz glassware.
- Participate in Staple Ops Dent Collection and Review process.
Fit for Duty Evaluation
A pre-placement Fit for Duty Evaluation is required for this assignment: Candidate will frequently lift / carry 25-35 lbs; occasionally lift / carry 36-50 lbs. Candidate will be required to work with solvents of various types and may need to wear a respirator (infrequently if at all).
