Job summary

TRI Environmental, Inc. is seeking a lead Maintenance and Repair Technician for its SW Austin facility to maintain diverse lab equipment. You will fabricate, repair, and assemble components, using mills, lathes, welding, and CAD tools to support testing operations.

Responsibilities include diagnosing electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical faults, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating with vendors and customers. Strong reading of drawings and attention to precision are essential.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with repair, assembly, or maintenance experience.
  • Experience with metal, wood, plastics, or similar materials and hand/power tools.
  • Experience operating mills and lathes; precise fabrication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical systems, sensors, and troubleshooting.
  • CAD software experience and ability to read drawings.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and develop practical repair solutions.
  • High attention to quality in fabrication and testing.
  • Good written and verbal communication with engineers and customers.
  • Basic computer skills to document repairs and maintain records.
  • Ability to perform physical shop tasks and lift up to 50 lb.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, repair, and maintain test equipment for multiple uses.
  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and lab equipment.
  • Identify defects, determine repairs, and return equipment to working condition.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Fabricate, modify, and assemble components using various materials.
  • Build fixtures and modify equipment to meet lab requirements.
  • Operate shop tools, read drawings, and fabricate accurately.
  • Read CAD drawings and create/update technical drawings as needed.
  • Wire and troubleshoot instrumentation and data acquisition, and plumbing systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors and communicate repair status with customers and engineers.
