Job summary

Core Scientific, Inc. seeks a Mechanical Journeyman to service and repair mechanical systems in our data center facilities. You will perform break-fix work on HVAC, hydronics, pumps, and related equipment, ensuring reliable operations.

The role requires a completed apprenticeship, 7+ years of experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work autonomously or with a team. Some travel between data centers may be required.

Qualifications

• Formal vocational school training in the trade is required.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible trade experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to follow guidance from staff and management.
• Basic email and MS Office skills.
• Detail-oriented with a professional attitude.
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team.
• Experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, and small hand tools.
• Prior military or technical school training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Break‑fix of electro‑mechanical systems including HVAC, hydronics, appliances, and doors.
• Inspect and repair spill/leak detection systems.
• Maintain and commission hydronic rack cooling systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and hydronic equipment.
• Schedule team tasks and requisition materials.
• Contribute to site failure reporting and Equipment Status Log.
• Provide mechanical project support.
• Clean‑in‑place treatment on heat exchangers.
• Chiller tube inspections and cleaning.
• Site plumbing maintenance and repairs.

Job description

Mechanical Journeyman

The Mechanical Journeyman is a skilled tradesperson who has completed an apprenticeship and is fully qualified to work independently in mechanical trades such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, piping, or other mechanical systems. The Journeyman will maintain and repair a wide range of equipment and systems within Core Scientific data center facilities.

Reports to: Assistant Manager, Critical Facilities.

Minimal travel between data centers may be required.

Responsibilities

• Break‑fix of all electro‑mechanical systems (HVAC, hydronics, appliances, rollup doors, dock locks, air compressors, etc.).
• Conduct spill and leak detection system inspections and repairs as needed.
• Hydronic rack cooling (Deschutes) maintenance and commissioning.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and hydronic systems (pumps, strainers, cooling towers, etc.).
• Team scheduling and material requisition.
• Contribute to site failure reporting (Equipment Status Log).
• Provide mechanical project support.
• Clean‑in‑place treatment on heat exchangers.
• Chiller tube inspections and cleaning.
• Site plumbing maintenance/repair.
• Conduct eyewash station/shower maintenance and inspections.
• Perform forklift maintenance.
• Perform gas valve preventive maintenance.
• Foster open, respectful, and professional communication within the team and with co‑workers and leaders across the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Formal vocational school training completion in the fundamentals of the specific trade is required.
• 7+ years of increasingly responsible experience in the specific trade.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness and ability to follow guidance from other staff members and management.
• Basic understanding of email and MS Office software.
• Positive and professional attitude with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
• Experience operating a variety of equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and small hand tools.
• Prior military or technical school training is preferred.
