Job summary

RTX is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) to direct engineering efforts for the Ultra Stack Munition Acceleration program. The onsite role in Tucson will drive design, analysis, and testing across mechanical systems while coordinating with OSCM and MPM to build a robust supplier base.

The candidate will mentor cross-functional teams, manage risk, and ensure milestones are met, with travel and security clearance requirements integral to the position.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience in mechanical design, analysis, modeling, and hardware integration.
• Experience leading engineering teams or IPT-style execution.
• Experience collaborating with Operations/Supply Chain on supplier development or manufacturing readiness.
• Ability to obtain Raytheon PM Level 6 Certification within 12 months.
• Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance is required before the start date.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all phases of engineering execution across mechanical design, development, integration, and testing to support Ultra Stack production ramp up activities.
• Coordinate with the Program Manager and Chief Engineer to define project schedules, budgets, staffing needs, and ensure adherence to milestones.
• Drive mechanical engineering tasks aligned with RTX Mechanical Engineering discipline guidelines (design, modeling, structural/thermal analysis, materials evaluation, mechanical integration).
• Provide technical leadership, direction, and mentorship to mechanical and cross-functional teams.
• Identify, track, and mitigate technical, schedule, and supplier-related risks; develop structured risk-reduction plans.
• Serve as the primary engineering interface with internal and external stakeholders, communicating status, risks, opportunities, and technical direction.
