Job summary

Lubrizol seeks a Mechanical Integrity Leader to drive a world-class MI program at our Deer Park site. You will lead cross-functional teams to improve asset reliability, regulatory compliance, and loss prevention through RBI, FFS, and RCA techniques.

Key priorities include managing the 5-year asset strategy, overseeing pressure relief and vessel programs, and championing continuous improvement across maintenance, engineering, and capital projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
• 8+ years of Mechanical Integrity or Reliability Engineering experience in chemical manufacturing.
• 3+ years of leadership experience driving change.
• Strong knowledge of industry codes and certifications including API 510, 570, 653, NBIC, BPVC, NFPA.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Mechanical Integrity Program across Maintenance, Engineering, Operations and Capital Projects.
• Own and manage the 5-year asset strategy to improve asset health and performance.
• Drive objective setting, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives for integrity and reliability.
• Develop and oversee Mechanical Integrity programs using industry standards (API, ASME, NBIC, NFPA).
• Oversee asset care strategies for Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Tanks, Piping, PRDs, Boilers, Heaters, FRP, Glass-Lined Equipment.
• Track key MI metrics including PM compliance, deficiency rates, report trends, and CAPA closure.

How You'll Make An Impact

As a Mechanical Integrity Leader, you will drive the implementation of a world-class Mechanical Integrity Program while fostering a culture focused on eliminating Loss of Primary Containment (LOPC) events, ensuring regulatory compliance, and improving asset reliability and availability. You will play a critical role in ensuring the site achieves its business objectives through strategic asset management, risk reduction, and cross-functional leadership. In this role, you will:

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the site Mechanical Integrity Program, ensuring alignment across Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and Capital Project teams.
• Own and manage the 5-year asset strategy, driving long-term asset health, compliance, and operational performance.
• Drive objective setting, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen mechanical integrity and asset reliability.
• Develop and implement comprehensive Mechanical Integrity programs utilizing industry standards and best practices, including:
• API 510, 520, 570, 579, 580, 583, and 653
• ASME BPVC, PCC-1, PCC-2, B31.1, and B31.3
• NBIC
• NFPA
• Other applicable RAGAGEP standards
• Develop and oversee asset care strategies and lifecycle management programs for fixed equipment including:
• Pressure Vessels
• Heat Exchangers
• Storage Tanks
• Piping Systems
• Pressure Relief Devices
• Boilers
• Heaters and Incinerators
• FRP Equipment
• Glass-Lined Equipment
• Track and report key Mechanical Integrity metrics, including PM compliance, deficient equipment, inspection deferments, temporary repairs, LOPCs, and CAPA completion rates, adjusting strategies based on performance trends.
• Drive the adoption and utilization of advanced inspection technologies such as advanced NDE methods, rope access, drones, crawlers, and other emerging technologies to improve inspection efficiency and effectiveness.
• Lead the application of Risk-Based Inspection (RBI), Fitness-for-Service (FFS), Damage Mechanism Assessments (DMA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and failure analysis methodologies.
• Champion the site Pressure Relief Device Program, including testing strategies, inspection frequencies, repair management, compliance, and long-term asset strategy.
• Lead and maintain key Mechanical Integrity programs, including:
• PM Compliance
• SPCC Tank Inspection Program
• Equipment Criticality Assessments
• PCMS Inspection Data Management System
• Inspection Deferment Process
• Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) Management
• Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) Program
• Equipment Low Remaining Life Program
• Support Capital Projects, Turnarounds (TARs), and Maintenance activities through planning, budgeting, scope development, and execution support.
• Ensure Mechanical Integrity principles and industry best practices are embedded within capital projects, influencing design, construction, and commissioning decisions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
• 8+ years of Mechanical Integrity or Reliability Engineering experience within a chemical manufacturing environment.
• 3+ years of leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to drive change and influence organizational outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, and certifications, including:
• API 510
• API 570
• API 653
• NBIC
• ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC)
• NFPA
• Experience with inspection, repair, alteration, design, troubleshooting, and fitness-for-service evaluations for:
• Pressure Vessels
• Storage Tanks
• Heat Exchangers
• Piping Systems
• Pressure Relief Devices
• Strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms, metallurgy, welding, failure analysis, and suitability-for-service evaluations within a chemical plant environment.
• Proven track record of leading, implementing, and improving Mechanical Integrity Programs within OSHA 1910.119 (PSM) covered facilities.
• Experience with equipment fabrication, NBIC repairs and alterations, and Vessel Repair (VR) programs.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk-based decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Texas jurisdictional inspection and regulatory requirements.

Work Environment

• Work primarily in an office environment with regular engagement in operating units and manufacturing areas.
• Utilize appropriate PPE while working within a chemical manufacturing facility.
• Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Inspection, and Leadership teams.
• Leverage asset management systems, inspection databases, and integrity management tools to drive reliability and compliance improvements.
• Participate in site audits, turnarounds, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Operate within strict safety, environmental, regulatory, and operational excellence standards.
