Job summary

The Lubrizol Corporation in Deer Park, TX is seeking a Mechanical Integrity Leader to drive a world-class program for asset integrity, reliability, and regulatory compliance. You will lead cross-functional teams, set strategic goals, and advance inspection technologies to reduce risk and losses.

You will own the 5-year asset health plan, oversee RBI/FFS analyses, and ensure adherence to industry codes such as API 510/570/653, NBIC, and NFPA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 8+ years of Mechanical Integrity or Reliability Engineering experience within a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated ability to drive change and influence outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, and certifications, including API 510, API 570, API 653, NBIC, ASME BPVC, NFPA.
  • Experience with inspection, repair, alteration, design, troubleshooting, and fitness-for-service evaluations for pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
  • Solid understanding of corrosion, metallurgy, welding, and failure analysis within a chemical plant environment.
  • Proven track record of leading, implementing, and improving Mechanical Integrity Programs (OSHA 1910.119) in PS M facilities.
  • Experience with NBIC repairs/alterations and Vessel Repair (VR) programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Mechanical Integrity Program across maintenance, engineering, operations, and capital projects.
  • Own and manage the 5-year asset strategy for health, compliance, and performance.
  • Drive objective setting, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives for asset reliability.
  • Develop and oversee Integrity programs using API, NBIC, BPVC, NBIC, NFPA standards and best practices.
  • Oversee asset care strategies for fixed equipment including vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, piping, PRDs, boilers, and related systems.
  • Lead adoption of advanced inspection technologies (NDE, rope access, drones, crawlers) to boost efficiency.
  • Apply RBI, FFS, DMA, RCA, and failure analysis methodologies across the site.
  • Champion the Pressure Relief Device Program and related long-term asset strategies.
  • Support capital projects, turnarounds, and maintenance with planning, budgeting, and execution.

How You'll Make An Impact

As a Mechanical Integrity Leader, you will drive the implementation of a world-class Mechanical Integrity Program while fostering a culture focused on eliminating Loss of Primary Containment (LOPC) events, ensuring regulatory compliance, and improving asset reliability and availability. You will play a critical role in ensuring the site achieves its business objectives through strategic asset management, risk reduction, and cross‑functional leadership. In this role, you will:

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the site Mechanical Integrity Program, ensuring alignment across Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and Capital Project teams.
  • Own and manage the 5-year asset strategy, driving long‑term asset health, compliance, and operational performance.
  • Drive objective setting, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen mechanical integrity and asset reliability.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive Mechanical Integrity programs utilizing industry standards and best practices, including:
    • API 510, 520, 570, 579, 580, 583, and 653
    • ASME BPVC, PCC-1, PCC-2, B31.1, and B31.3
    • NBIC
    • NFPA
    • Other applicable RAGAGEP standards
  • Develop and oversee asset care strategies and lifecycle management programs for fixed equipment including:
    • Pressure Vessels
    • Heat Exchangers
    • Storage Tanks
    • Piping Systems
    • Pressure Relief Devices
    • Boilers
    • Heaters and Incinerators
    • FRP Equipment
    • Glass‑Lined Equipment
  • Track and report key Mechanical Integrity metrics, including PM compliance, deficient equipment, inspection deferments, temporary repairs, LOPCs, and CAPA completion rates, adjusting strategies based on performance trends.
  • Drive the adoption and utilization of advanced inspection technologies such as advanced NDE methods, rope access, drones, crawlers, and other emerging technologies to improve inspection efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead the application of Risk‑Based Inspection (RBI), Fitness‑for‑Service (FFS), Damage Mechanism Assessments (DMA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and failure analysis methodologies.
  • Champion the site Pressure Relief Device Program, including testing strategies, inspection frequencies, repair management, compliance, and long‑term asset strategy.
  • Lead and maintain key Mechanical Integrity programs, including:
    • PM Compliance
    • SPCC Tank Inspection Program
    • Equipment Criticality Assessments
    • PCMS Inspection Data Management System
    • Inspection Deferment Process
    • Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) Management
    • Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) Program
    • Equipment Low Remaining Life Program
  • Support Capital Projects, Turnarounds (TARs), and Maintenance activities through planning, budgeting, scope development, and execution support.
  • Ensure Mechanical Integrity principles and industry best practices are embedded within capital projects, influencing design, construction, and commissioning decisions.

  • Strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms, metallurgy, welding, failure analysis, and suitability‑for‑service evaluations within a chemical plant environment.
  • Proven track record of leading, implementing, and improving Mechanical Integrity Programs within OSHA 1910.119 (PSM) covered facilities.
  • Experience with equipment fabrication, NBIC repairs and alterations, and Vessel Repair (VR) programs.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and risk‑based decision‑making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Texas jurisdictional inspection and regulatory requirements.
