Job summary

Applied Technical Services, LLC is seeking an Engineering Consultant to support the Mechanical Integrity Department at our ATS Charlotte, NC office. This full-time role offers 40 hours weekly with potential overtime, including travel up to 30% to support field inspections and API-related projects in various facilities.

The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in Mechanical/Structural Engineering and seeks API/CWI certifications, with proficiency in AutoCAD/SolidWorks and strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Structural Engineering or closely related field required.
  • Experience in Mechanical Integrity preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to travel ±30% out of office, typically not more than 1–2 weeks at a time.
  • API Certifications to be obtained through OJT after hire and pre-test support from ATS in one or more of the following: API-510, API-570, API-653, CWI.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections of industrial equipment under the supervision of API Inspection personnel (storage tanks, pressure vessels, piping).
  • Generate calculations in accordance with API, ASME, STI, etc.
  • Generate written reports utilizing MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Develop AutoCAD drawings or isometrics.
  • Assist in managing projects ranging from $5,000–$100,000.
  • Assist in managing client relationships.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week with the potential for overtime.
