Engineered Structures Inc. seeks a Traveling Mechanical Installer for Federal projects nationwide and abroad. This role involves installation, assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems on commercial and industrial sites across the United States and beyond.

Expect extensive travel, with emphasis on safety, quality, and collaboration with project teams. A clean background and ability to obtain access to Federal sites are required; Top Secret clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2–5 years of mechanical installation, construction, industrial maintenance, or related field experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
  • Must pass background check and obtain/maintain access to Federal job sites; TS clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, and secure mechanical equipment and systems per plans and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Read blueprints and construction documents to determine installation requirements.
  • Lay out installation locations, verify measurements, and ensure proper alignment.

The Traveling Mechanical Installer is responsible for the installation, assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment on commercial and industrial construction projects throughout the United States. This position performs work in accordance with project specifications, manufacturer requirements, company standards, and safety regulations. The Traveling Mechanical Installer works closely with project management, field supervision, and other trades to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and with a high standard of quality. This role requires extensive travel, adaptability to varying jobsite conditions, and a commitment to representing ESI professionally at all project locations and abroad

This is a traveling position supporting Federal project sites both within the continental United States (CONUS) and outside the continental United States (OCONUS).

Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, and secure mechanical equipment and systems according to project plans, specifications, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, construction documents, and installation instructions.
  • Install and connect mechanical components, including pumps, motors, compressors, conveyors, process equipment, piping, ductwork, structural supports, and other mechanical systems as required.
  • Lay out installation locations and verify measurements to ensure proper alignment and fit-up of equipment and components.
  • Perform equipment setting, anchoring, leveling, rigging, and alignment.
  • Assist with equipment startups, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, and other construction equipment safely and effectively.
  • Coordinate work activities with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and other trades.
  • Inspect completed work to verify compliance with project requirements and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress as required.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, material handling, inventory management, and jobsite organization.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of mechanical installation, construction, industrial maintenance, or related field experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, installation practices, and construction methods.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, measurement devices, and jobsite equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience installing manufacturing, processing, conveying, or material handling equipment.
  • Welding, fabrication, or mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Experience with equipment startup and commissioning activities.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and obtain/maintain access to Federal job sites; a clean background is required.
  • ActiveTop Secret (TS) clearance or TS/SCI eligibility preferred.

  • This position requires outdoor work, with exposure to various weather conditions.
  • This role may occasionally require working in high, precarious places; near fumes or airborne particles; and handling toxic or caustic chemicals. There is also a risk of electrical shock and vibration in certain situations.
  • The work environment noise level is usually loud.

Physical Demands

  • Flexibility in working hours may be required, including evening and weekend work as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and elevated work platforms.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 100% travel based on project assignments and business needs.
  • Must be willing and able to travel nationwide for varying project durations.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules as required to meet project deadlines.
  • Travel to and work at Federal project sites both CONUS and OCONUS as required, including a valid passport where OCONUS travel applies.
