Job summary

Comfort Systems USA is seeking a skilled Mechanic to support mechanical service and retrofit work on active job sites in Colorado. You will perform sheet metal modifications, piping tasks, valve replacements, and torque-critical connections while following Lockout/Tagout procedures and safety guidelines.

The role requires hands-on experience in mechanical service, piping, and HVAC, with the ability to travel to construction sites and read job documentation to ensure first-time quality.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in mechanical service, piping, HVAC, plumbing, or industrial maintenance.
• Knowledge of flanges, gaskets, valves, and mechanical connections.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and travel to construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform sheet metal modification and installation to support mechanical equipment, ducting interfaces, and field-fit needs.
• Remove and replace pipe gaskets; prepare flange faces, align flanges, and verify fit-up and sealing surfaces.
• Complete chiller valve replacements (isolation support, removal/replacement, reassembly, and checks).
• Install flanged pipe couplings and hardware; torque to specification using torque tools.
• Execute LOTO: identify energy sources, isolate equipment, apply lockout/tagout devices, and verify zero-energy state.
• Read and work from job documentation to complete tasks correctly the first time.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area; use PPE; follow safety policies and jobsite rules.
• Communicate job status, material needs, and field issues to the supervisor/foreman; document completed work.
• Use and maintain tools properly, including torque wrenches and standard hand/power tools.
• Support troubleshooting and basic mechanical service tasks; elevate issues when needed.
