Job summary

Comfort Systems USA is seeking a mechanically skilled Mechanic to support service and retrofit work, including sheet metal modifications, piping tasks, gasket and valve replacements, and LOTO compliance. You will read and interpret drawings, work from work orders, and maintain strict safety standards on active job sites across mechanical rooms and rooftops.

You must handle torque tools, fabricate and fit components, and coordinate with supervisors to ensure timely, high-quality results.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated hands-on experience in mechanical service, piping, HVAC mechanical, plumbing, or industrial maintenance
• Working knowledge of flanges, gaskets, valves, and mechanical connections
• Proper tool use including torque tools
• Jobsite safety practices and hazard awareness
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work safely in active job environments.
• Must be able to travel to construction sites as needed

Responsibilities

• Perform sheet metal modification and installation to support mechanical equipment, ducting interfaces, and field-fit needs.
• Remove and replace pipe gaskets; prepare flange faces, align flanges, and verify proper fit-up and sealing surfaces.
• Complete chiller valve replacements (isolation support, removal/replacement, reassembly, and operational checks per job requirements).
• Install flanged pipe couplings and hardware; torque to specification using appropriate tools and documented torque requirements.
• Execute LOTO: identify energy sources, isolate equipment, apply lockout/tagout devices, and verify zero-energy state per procedure.
• Read and work from job documentation (drawings, specs, work orders) to complete tasks correctly the first time.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area; use PPE; follow all safety policies and jobsite rules.
• Communicate job status, material needs, and field issues to the supervisor/foreman; document completed work as required.
• Use and maintain tools and equipment properly, including torque wrenches and standard mechanical hand/power tools.
• Support troubleshooting and basic mechanical service tasks within your skillset; elevate issues when needed.
