Job summary

Comfort Systems USA is seeking a Mechanic to support mechanical service and retrofit work. You will perform sheet metal modifications, piping tasks, gasket replacement, valve work, and torque processes in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and active job sites.

The role requires reading drawings and job orders, maintaining safety, and coordinating with the foreman to ensure timely, quality completion on site. Occasional travel to construction sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in mechanical service, piping, HVAC or industrial maintenance.
• Knowledge of flanges, gaskets, valves, and mechanical connections.
• Ability to read drawings and work orders.
• Willingness to travel to construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform sheet metal modification and installation to support mechanical equipment, ducting interfaces, and field-fit needs.
• Remove and replace pipe gaskets; prepare flange faces, align flanges, and verify proper fit-up and sealing surfaces.
• Complete chiller valve replacements (isolation support, removal/replacement, reassembly, and operational checks per job requirements).
• Install flanged pipe couplings and hardware; torque to specification using appropriate tools and documented torque requirements.
• Execute LOTO: identify energy sources, isolate equipment, apply lockout/tagout devices, and verify zero-energy state per procedure.
• Read and work from job documentation (drawings, specs, work orders) to complete tasks correctly the first time.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area; use PPE; follow all safety policies and jobsite rules.
• Communicate job status, material needs, and field issues to the supervisor/foreman; document completed work as required.
• Use and maintain tools and equipment properly, including torque wrenches and standard mechanical hand/power tools.
• Support troubleshooting and basic mechanical service tasks within your skillset; elevate issues when needed.
