Job summary

Torrey Holistics in Knightstown, IN is seeking a Mechanical & Hydraulic Assembly Team Supervisor for a first shift. You will lead a hands-on crew building subassemblies to turnkey machinery, while coaching and training team members for versatility and continuous improvement.

You’ll plan daily work, monitor quality and timing, and ensure accurate data in the ERP system. This role emphasizes safe work practices, 5S, and proactive problem solving on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or assembly environments.
• Proven ability to lead teams and coordinate activities on the shop floor.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, BOMs, and work instructions.
• Familiarity with ERP/work-order systems and inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Plan each day: set direction, assign work, align labor to priority orders.
• Lead hands-on assembly of mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical builds.
• Ensure product is built to print and adheres to specifications.
• Mentor and train team members to expand capabilities and cross-skill.

In this role you’ll guide a team building everything from subassemblies to turnkey machinery—while staying hands-on at the bench.The missionDeliver safe, accurate, on-time assemblies across mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical builds.Develop a skilled, flexible team through training, cross-training, and daily coaching.Signal issues early—materials, quality, scheduling—and drive quick resolution with leadership.How you’ll make it happenPlan the day: set direction, assign work, and align labor to priority orders.Build product: use hand and torque tools, wrenches, sealants, and measuring equipment to assemble to print.Follow the spec: read and apply work instructions, engineering drawings, and BOMs.Elevate the team: onboard new hires, mentor peers, and expand versatility across the area.Track performance: monitor attendance, productivity, and quality; escalate concerns as needed.Protect quality: perform in-process/final/secondary inspections; complete inspection reports and maintain serial-number traceability.Manage materials: communicate shortages, support receiving, stage and prepare finished goods for shipment.Keep data clean: record labor, material usage, inventory moves, and work-order information in the ERP/production system; verify accuracy on each job.Ensure inventory accuracy: monitor stock levels, issue/receive correctly, and conduct cycle counts.Collaborate: join daily production meetings; share priorities, risks, and resource needs.Model 5S and safety: maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace; promote teamwork, accountability, quality, and a positive environment.What you bringExperience in manufacturing, assembly, machine building, or similar.Team lead/supervisor experience (formal or informal) strongly preferred.Hands-on mechanical aptitude with mechanical/hydraulic/electro-mechanical assembly exposure.Proficiency with hand and torque tools, wrenches, and basic measurement tools.Ability to interpret drawings, BOMs, and work instructions.Comfort with inventory, work-order, ERP, or related tracking systems.Organized problem-solver who can shift priorities quickly.Clear communicator who trains, coaches, and motivates effectively.Detail-oriented, quality-focused, and willing to help wherever needed.Ideal pathwaysBackgrounds in equipment assembly, machine building, hydraulic assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, industrial equipment, or custom manufacturing are a strong match.Areas of proficiencyIndustrial and Manufacturing EngineeringFood and Beverage ManufacturingManufacturing Instruction (MI)Design for Manufacturability (DFM)Lean Manufacturing PrinciplesGood Manufacturing Practices (GMP)Automotive Manufacturing SystemsAerospace ManufacturingExperience in a Manufacturing EnvironmentLead a capable crew, build exceptional equipment, and grow your impact—one well-run shift at a time.
