Job summary

Generac Power Systems Inc is seeking an Assembler III to perform assembly work for manufacturing products in a cost-effective and timely manner. You will validate materials, review instructions, build to specifications, and maintain quality and safety standards.

The role requires 2 years of assembly experience, the ability to follow complex procedures, and willingness to train others. Expect on-site manufacturing work with rigorous adherence to ERP and safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent or better.
  • 2 years of complex assembly or related experience.
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math.
  • Experience with ERP/SAP or similar systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble products according to work instructions and tolerances.
  • Review and follow safety and PPE requirements; maintain clean work area.
  • Provide basic training to employees on work instructions as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and problem solving in manufacturing.

The Assembler III will validate material prior to beginning assembly, review work instructions, build product per specifications and within tolerances, complete all clean-up and housekeeping procedures, comply with all quality, safety and work rules and regulations including wearing all appropriate PPE.ResponsibilitiesUses work instructions drawings, schematics, electronic assembly equipment to perform assembly while complying with safe and effective operation standards of all equipment and tools.Cross trains in multiple assembly areas and flex to other similar departments based on business needs.Develop and maintain an understanding of the products they assemble and how they impact the business.Continuous learning of the principles, practices, and processes of their job as changes require and similar jobs.Participate in team meetings to exchange job related information.Resolve problems with assistance from peers or supervisors depending on the level and complexity.Provide basic training to employees on work instructions/standard work as needed.Flex to multiple workstations based on business needs.Perform complex assembly work within tolerance and quality standards at the defined rate.Suggest and implement improvements to existing equipment, designs, and/or processes to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.Retrieve information as needed within ERP system.Provide training to employees on work instructions/standard work.Contributes to identifying problems and implementing appropriate countermeasures.Uses initiative and judgment to lead problem solving and implementing appropriate countermeasures.Proficiently access information and perform transactions as needed within ERP system.Lead team meetings and exchange job related information.Solve problems independently within designated authority level.Frequently train employees on different aspects of the department including work instructions/standard workParticipate in continuous improvement programs along with problem solving production related concerns.Consistently follows through on team commitments, communicates, and demonstrates accountability.May perform lead responsibilities as needed.RequirementsEducationHigh School diploma or equivalentExperienceAbility to perform highly repetitive assembly tasks in a manufacturing environment2 years of complex assembly or related experienceKnowledge, Skills, AbilitiesDetail oriented and organized.Ability to effectively communicate in a team environment.Accepts responsibility for own actions, follows through on commitments.Ability to understand and execute advanced standard assembly procedures, interpret basic visual diagrams, and use advanced hand tools.Ability to perform basic reading, writing, and math functions.Ability to perform highly repetitive assembly tasks in a manufacturing environment.Ability to act safely while following establish procedures, processes and policiesAbility to perform more complex assembly skills.Intermediate computer knowledge (such as using electronic work instructions)Understands principles of basic machine operations assembled.Preferred Job RequirementsExperienceManufacturing or mechanical experience, including knowledge of manufacturing processesExperience using SAP or equivalent ERP system (Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics)Experience in root cause problem solving (5 Why, 8D, PDCA, etc.)Experience effectively training other employees to work instructions/standard work.Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; and to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to walk, stoop, crouch, bend and reach above shoulders. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, walking up to 10 feet away. This job's specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment, including seasonal variations in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or by-products.
