Job summary

Giga Energy seeks a Mechanical Field Engineer to keep mechanical construction moving on active data center sites. You’ll write and resolve RFIs, manage change orders end-to-end, and ensure the paper trail matches what’s built, coordinating with the Mechanical Superintendent, design team, and subs.

You’ll review drawings, specs, and P&IDs to spot issues before field problems arise, support field layout and procurement tied to approved changes, and help keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a field engineer, project engineer, or similar role on mechanical construction projects.
• Experience writing and managing RFIs and change orders on a construction project.
• Experience with data center or mission-critical facility construction projects.
• Familiarity with commissioning (Cx) processes and how RFIs/change orders affect FPTs and IST.

Responsibilities

• Identify, write, and track RFIs for mechanical scope with clear issue descriptions and resolutions.
• Follow up with design teams to drive RFIs to timely closure and escalate stalled items.
• Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and P&IDs to spot discrepancies before field problems.
• Prepare change order requests with scope description, backups, and cost/schedule impact.
• Coordinate with project controls, PMs, and subcontractors to price and resolve change orders.
• Maintain change order and RFI logs and report status regularly.
• Support field layout and installation checks to ensure work matches drawings and resolutions.
• Coordinate with commissioning and controls teams to reflect RFIs and changes in as-built docs.
