Job summary

ASC Process Systems, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Fabrication Technician to join our Mechanical Production team. You will read engineering drawings, fabricate and assemble components for autoclaves, ovens, and related subassemblies, and perform MIG welding to high-quality standards.

Travel domestically and internationally as needed to perform fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair work at customer sites while upholding ASC’s safety culture and team values.

Job description

• Complete ASC’s fabrication training program and demonstrate proficiency in fabrication processes and techniques.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to fabricate and assemble mechanical components for autoclaves, ovens, and related subassemblies, including frames, tanks, heaters, cooling coils, valve trains, floors, silencers, and platforms.
• Promote and uphold ASC’s safety culture by following all safety procedures, preventing workplace injuries, completing required safety documentation, and participating in safety meetings.
• Prepare and organize materials for fabrication and integration into final assemblies.
• Work under the direction of a Production Lead to build autoclaves, ovens, and other industrial equipment.
• Independently fabricate 1-foot, 2-foot, and 3-foot diameter autoclaves after completing required training.
• Measure, cut, plasma cut, saw, grind, fit, install, and weld a variety of materials, including steel plate, steel pipe, sheet metal, angle iron, insulation, plumbing components, PVC pipe, and fittings.
• Clean, paint, wrap, move, and load completed products in preparation for shipment.
• Safely operate fabrication equipment and industrial tools, including saws, drills, grinders, jig saws, drill presses, and related machinery.
• Perform MIG welding in accordance with company quality and safety standards.
• Travel domestically and internationally, as needed, to perform fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair work at customer sites.

• Works as part of the Mechanical Production team under the supervision of Production Leads and reports to the Mechanical Production Manager.
• Basic welding skills required; must be able to pass a welding test.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and written work instructions.
• Strong communication skills, positive attitude, and willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and frequently lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, squat, kneel, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods, up to 10 hours per day.
• Manual dexterity and coordination required for the safe operation of tools and equipment.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, and dusty manufacturing environments.
• Normal vision, color vision, and hearing required.
• Must be able to work safely in a heavy manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and welding-related particulates.
• Required PPE includes hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
• Additional PPE, such as gloves, respirators, dust masks, or back supports, may be required based on the task being performed.
