Job summary

Manhattan Construction Group is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to drive preconstruction activities and prepare mechanical and fire protection estimates. You will guide owners, coordinate with vendors, and ensure deliverables stay within budget.

Strong communication and message confidence are essential. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in CM or Engineering and at least 5 years of industry experience, with knowledge of mechanical scopes and estimating software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in estimating or preconstruction.
  • Experience with mechanical scope of work and subcontractor coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Create estimates for mechanical and fire protection scopes.
  • Solicit vendor pricing and negotiate costs.
  • Own contracts and bid packages for mechanical work.
  • Update and maintain estimating databases and tools.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Adhere to MCC standards and contribute to preconstruction deliverables.

POSITIONSUMMARY:

The Mechanical Estimator has a focus oncompanywide success in adherence to MCC Standards and all preconstructionactivities necessary for the preparation and undertaking for all of Manhattan’s preconstruction services related to themechanical scope of work. The position is responsible for compiling estimates,guiding owners, & driving precon deliverables to budget. The Mechanical Estimator must be a flexibleand adaptable team-player, as well as have strong communication and clientservice skills. In addition, the skill set of owning one’s work & being confident in the messagethat is being delivered is crucial to this role.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for creating estimates for mechanical /fire protection scopes of work assigned
  • Basic knowledge of unit pricing for mechanical / fireprotection scopes of work
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical / fire protection scopesof work
  • Owns Vendor Solicitation for mechanical / fireprotection scopes of work
  • Negotiates pricing for mechanical / fire protectionscopes of work
  • Owns contracts for mechanical / fire protection scopesof work
  • Responsible for bid package mechanical / fireprotection scopes of work
  • Assists in managing historical costs / estimatingsoftware database for mechanical / fire protection scopes of work
  • Makes recommendations for software updates formechanical / fire protection scopes of work
  • Responsible for conductingthemselves in accordance with our Guiding Principles and exhibitingattributes matching the Way We Work.
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree- Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent. May substitute required education degree with related experience on a one-to-one basis
  • 5 years of industry experience
  • Experience w/ & Knowledge of Mechanical scope of work(subcontractor / design firm)
WORKINGCONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS:
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day.
  • Ability to repeat the same movements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to participate fully in meetings, video conferences, and phone calls.
  • Use hands to type, handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or control.
  • Occasionally lift, pull, or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional travel will be required, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver’s License).
