Job summary

Vision Point Systems, Inc. is seeking an engineering technician for on-site work at customer locations in Bethesda, MD and Olney, MD. You will prepare corrosion testing specimens, collect quality evidence, and assist with test apparatus design and maintenance.

You will support engineers on corrosion-related projects, perform laboratory tasks, and help with lab upkeep, requiring a high school diploma or GED and the ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance. 2+ years in a lab setting preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare corrosion testing specimens including blasting and coating applications.
• Collect objective quality evidence and verify specimen prep per specs.
• Assist design and construction of test apparatus and rapid prototyping.
• Maintain lab equipment, troubleshoot, and schedule calibration.
• Assist engineers with test execution and data collection.
• Support government personnel with laboratory upkeep and safety.

Job description

Vision Point Systems, Inc. is currently recruiting for a talented, innovative engineering technician. This position is housed onsite atcustomer locationsin Bethesda, Marylandand Olney, MD. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Prepare corrosion testing specimens to include abrasive blasting of metal coupons, coating applications using various techniques including spray painting, rolling, andbrushamong others.
• Collect objective quality evidence (OQE) that specimens were prepared correctly. This may include verifying metal coupon surface profiles/roughness,checkingcoating film thickness, or otherwise comparing specimen preparation techniques against manufacturer-recommended specifications.
• Assistwith design and construction of test apparatuses to include rapid prototyping, basic machining, and assembly.
• Maintain functionality of equipment (bench-top testing equipment, large scale corrosion cabinets, blasting cabinets, etc.), including troubleshooting non-functioning equipment, replacing broken components, checking equipment calibration, and scheduling for calibration to be performed.
• Assistengineers with test program execution. This may involve performance of laboratory and/or field tests, helping with specimen evaluation and data collection, and/or performing various inspections in support of corrosion-related projects.
• Assist Government personnel with laboratory upkeep. This may includemaintaininghazardous materials inventory lists, organizing laboratory inventory, andassistingwith general maintenance and cleaning of laboratory spaces.
• Mustpossessa high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to obtain andmaintaina DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Be able to work independently and be a self-starter.
• Mustdemonstratequalities to work with precision and pay special attention to details.
• Mustdemonstratestrong verbal and written communication skills
• Must have2+ years of experience working in a lab type setting or some type of equivalent experience.
• Must be willing to work in both Bethesda, MD and Olney, MD to meet customer requirements.

Desired Skill(s):

• Experience working with and supportingDoWprograms is highly desired.
• Experience with materials and mechanical testing, corrosion prevention, coatings application and evaluation, and vehicle/ship platforms is desired.
• Experience collecting and compiling data is desired.
• Associates degree or higher in Science, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field is desired.
