Job summary

Teradyne in North Reading, MA seeks a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the SiPh mechanical engineering team, guiding concept-to-release for next-generation optical test platforms used in AI, semiconductors, and HPC.

You will build and mentor a cross-disciplinary team across sites and time zones, define project plans, ensure design reviews, and partner with suppliers to deliver scalable, compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years leading engineering teams in a managerial or technical leadership role.
• ProvenExperience bringing complex products from concept through release.
• Strong background in mechanical system design within multidisciplinary products.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams across multiple sites/time zones.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence at all levels.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience with semiconductor systems, optical instrumentation, or high-volume manufacturing preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO, CE, SEMI, NFPA standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering strategy and execution across the full product lifecycle from concept to high-volume manufacturing.
• Develop project plans defining scope, phases, resources, costs, schedules, and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with systems, optical, software, compliance, operations, marketing, and customer teams.
• Build, mentor, and develop a mechanical engineering team across sites and time zones.
• Partner with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure quality, availability, manufacturability, and scalability.
• Ensure disciplined design reviews and timely resolution of complex issues.
