Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Department Manager to lead and grow the mechanical engineering team across DOE and commercial nuclear projects. You will build technical capabilities, recruit and develop staff, and align resources with project needs while promoting safety, quality, and reliable delivery.

The role coordinates with project management and other disciplines, maintains design standards, supports training, and drives continuous improvement across offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 15+ years managing engineering activities in power or nuclear markets.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• US PE license required; ability to obtain licensure in needed states.
• Experience with DOE or commercial nuclear projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and growth of nuclear engineering capabilities with oversight of the Mechanical Engineering team.
• Provide direction and leadership to manage a team of engineers and contractors, ensuring timely delivery.
• Develop staffing plans with Project Management, balance workload across projects and offices.
• Recruit, onboard, coach, and evaluate mechanical engineering staff; establish growth plans.
• Maintain department design standards and checking practices; ensure quality reviews.
• Coordinate with project engineering leads to resolve interfaces and design changes.
• Monitor workload and budgets; address risks with Project Management.
