The Lead Mechanical Engineer works with limited or no direct supervision. The Lead serves in a supervisory capacity to the Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Interns, approving time off, conducting performance appraisals, handling performance issues, and generally facilitating the team concept. The Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing the Engineering Manager with the ongoing status of assigned engineering projects; conceptualizing ideas and designs with the Mechanical Engineering team; approving quotes; may design mechanical systems; translates technical information received from the Engineering Manager into usable data applicable to engineering assignments; verifies drawings for technical accuracy; evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity is required.
