The role requires 10+ years of design engineering, solid leadership experience, and proficiency with SolidWorks. A Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred, with background checks and drug screening required.

Qualifications

This highly visible leadership role combines people development, technical problem-solving, workflow improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to help engineering and production operate more efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of mechanical design engineers.
• Establish goals, provide actionable feedback, manage performance, and support professional-development planning.
• Create a culture of accountability, urgency, collaboration, and consistent follow-through.
• Optimize engineering workflows to improve throughput, eliminate waste, and strengthen handoffs between engineering and production.
• Identify potential problems early and take action before they affect quality, cost, or delivery.
• Troubleshoot complex design and production challenges using an analytical, solutions-focused approach.
• Guide engineers through concept development, 3D modeling, drawing creation, tolerance selection, and design-for-manufacturability reviews.
• Ensure engineering deliverables meet customer expectations and internal quality requirements.
• Own and monitor departmental performance indicators.
• Develop and manage the engineering department’s budget.
• Partner with production and other internal teams to improve efficiency, quality, and cost performance.
• Address unresolved issues directly and make timely, well-informed decisions.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of design-engineering experience
• Previous experience leading, mentoring, and managing direct reports.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining, precision manufacturing, and related production processes.
• Demonstrated proficiency with SolidWorks.
• Experience guiding projects through concept development, 3D modeling, prints, tolerances, and manufacturability reviews.
• Proven ability to improve engineering workflows, productivity, quality, and cost performance.
• Confident and effective communication skills, including the ability to provide feedback and hold team members accountable.
• Proactive, assertive, innovative, and solutions-oriented leadership style.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
