Brigham Young University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for an IT Manager to lead technology strategy, security, and operations for a large academic environment. You will oversee the lifecycle of 500+ Windows, Mac, and Linux computers, manage server infrastructure, and guide web/digital services and Drupal platforms to support teaching, research, and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Must pursue the BYU mission and values
  • 4+ years or equivalent in IT; 3+ years in IT field with web experience beyond a degree
  • Experience in web administration, design, development, and programming (PHP, CSS, HTML, SQL, JavaScript)
  • Experience purchasing hardware and software for Windows, Mac, Linux and other OS
  • Experience managing the life cycle of servers, laptops, desktops
  • Expert troubleshooting across Windows, Mac, Linux servers and clients
  • Proficient in project management and technical writing
  • Experience managing virtual servers and multi-admin environments
  • Experience configuring and maintaining computer networks
  • Strong leadership and ability to recruit/mentor student IT staff

Responsibilities

  • Champion security, usability and innovation across the department’s digital presence
  • Solve complex technical challenges and partner with faculty, researchers and vendors
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and advise on department goals and priorities
