Job summary

JR Automation Technologies, LLC, a Hitachi Group Company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern/Co-Op for onsite assignment at our Greenville, SC facility. The role runs May 2027 through August 2027 and is a paid, part-time internship designed to support and learn from our engineering teams.

You'll assist with drawing packages, CAD updates, and vendor coordination while gaining hands-on experience across mechanical design, fabrication, and assembly in an automation environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college program pursuing an engineering degree.
• Familiar with CAD and engineering drawing practices.

Responsibilities

• Detail drawing packages for Mechanical Engineers.
• Solve practical problems with no standard solution.
• Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
• Update CAD models based on redline drawings once machines have been built.
• Complete layout of machine through detail of all components.
• Check peer drawing packages.
• Develop conceptual designs for customers or sales and quoting.
• Work with vendors for proper sizing and quotation of purchased items needed for design.
• Complete all stock sizes for mechanical bill of material.
• Create dxf files for burnouts and internal/external machining.

As a Mechanical Engineer Intern/Co-Op , you will assist and support other Mechanical Engineers. Learn from some of the most dedicated and technically competent engineers in the Automation Industry. As a member of a project team, you'll work alongside our Applications, Controls, Mechanical, and Build teams to support the design, build, program, and deployment of custom automated equipment.
